Plus 6 and dry when driving in.

I have not been to Newbury this season and I was pleased to see their new paddock which looked friendly and far more welcoming for viewing than the old one.

The owners and trainers new facility is also brilliant, but what was really noticeable was the warmth and welcoming smiles of the staff. All very helpful and happy.

Wandrin Star ran OK, but I am afraid the handicapper has had his say on this chap. WS started his season racing off a rating of 110 and yesterday he was running off a rating of 136. That’s what the handicapper does to you for winning two races!

John and Penny Perriss (WS's owner) were in great form and much enjoyed their days racing. Good to see old Racing Club KCB member Len Antrill racing, but news of another former member Mike Cornwall not so good as the old boy passed away this week.. Thanks Hughie Williams for the message.

Saturday morning. David Bass in and we worked a few and jumped Commodore Barry, Alfie Corbitt, Rose To Fame, Dandy Dan, Cresswell Legend, Lady Of The Night, Illuminated Beauty and Miss Gemstone.

Paul Ward, Paul Gilbert, Malcolm Parry,  Brenda and Roberta Neilson, Matthew and Alex Kirk, Malcolm and Wendy, May & Martin Smith all here for a morning on the gallops followed by breakfast as booked through CD Tours.

Karen Masters was here to say goodbye to here KBRP horse Knockanrawley and see her new KBRP horse Mergeela.

Today marks the last day as a jockey for Noel Fehily.

Noel has had a great career and one of the best. He rode one winner for me and that was on Charbel in the Peterborough Chase. A ride that has gone done as one of the best.

Racing will miss his brilliance.

Noel goes out in the Goffs Spring Sales Bumper. Stage managed that he should go out on a win on Harry Fry’s Get In The Queue who is probably the best bumper horse in the country. Unbeaten in two starts this horse would have been favourite for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last week if he were to have run, but todays race is all about Harry Fry and Noel.

Good luck to them but we will try and spoil the party as we run Prince Llywelyn in this race and for my thoughts in his chances please click here.

Winx wins again..32nd win on the trot.. Some mare..

Two Aussies were out hunting in the outback and came upon a huge hole in the ground.  They approached it and were amazed at its size and depth.

The first said, "Wow, that's some hole.  I can't even see the bottom.  I wonder how deep it is"?

The second said, “There's an old gear box over there.  Let’s throw it in and see how long it takes to hit bottom”.

Despite it being very heavy, they picked up the gear box, carried it over to the hole, counted one-two-three, and heaved it in.

As they were standing there looking over the edge of the hole, a goat come crashing through the under-brush, ran up to the hole and without hesitation, jumped in head first.

They were so mystified by this that they stood staring at each other in amazement and peered into the hole, trying to figure out what that was all about.

Just then an old farmer sauntered up.  "Say, you fellers , you didn't happen to see my goat"?

The first hunter said, "Funny you should ask.  We were just standing here a minute ago, and a goat came running out of the bushes doing about a hundred miles an hour and jumped head first into this here hole"!

The old farmer said, "Naw, that's impossible!  I had him chained to an old gear box".

Have a great weekend and see you on Monday.
