Racing for Maggie's

Kim Bailey Racing is pleased to announce the new charity partnership for 2016-2018.

Maggie's Cancer Charity.

The 'Racing for Maggie's' Partnership has been deliberately designed to enable Maggie’s Charity to continue to provide free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. This followed the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by their founder, Maggie Keswick Jencks, in 1996.

Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need with. Nineteen centres are established throughout the UK and abroad – Hong Kong and Japan – in addition to a centre based locally to Kim’s yard in Cheltenham.

Fundraising target
The partnership has already made an immediate impact for the charity. Our shareholders have pledged their support, and with 20% of any prize money earned going directly to the charity, in just six months the initial £10,000 fundraising target has already been reached!

Not to be a group to rest on our laurels, we have decided to commit to generating an additional £10,000 for this very worthy cause by May 2018, which would cover all associated costs of running the Cheltenham Centre for a fortnight.

High level and specialised care indeed but a simple and effective way a significant contribution can be felt.

Partnership Horses

Another Venture - 2011 – Chestnut Gelding.

By Stowaway out of Hard Luck.

This good looking son of Stowaway finished second on his only Point to Point start in May 2016 before being purchased by Kim at the Cheltenham Sales later that month.

Another Venture became the first runner for the Racing for Maggie’s Partnership when tackling very testing conditions to finish second in a novice hurdle at Ludlow in mid November. He then appeared in another novice hurdle a month later finishing second (again!), travelling well and jumping accurately before just being out battled after the last.

“AV” won impressively at Sandown in February and then ran in the EBF final again at Sandown in March.

Another Venture has had a fabulous season winning two of his seven starts and finishing in the prize money in the three of the others.

We then switched to run over fences which he took to brilliantly, only finishing twice out of first four during seven runs; winning twice in January at Chepstow and Hereford before heading to Ascot where he finished a admirable third.

He will continue over fences this season, hopefully continuing his success for the Racing for Maggie's Partnership.

Sad for his owner Gary Tardi who loved him and for the staff here who did too. Our other runner Chateau Robin ran a blinder to finish second.. You know how I hate being second a...
