Hmmmm. Uttoxeter.. Hmmm.

I have not been there for the best part of 2 years and was rather disappointed..

Firstly, with Broomfield Present who missed the break on the second start (perfect first time but false start) and was under pressure from there on… Annoying that all his previous suitable races were blown away or washed away..

The good news is that we have managed to get a run under his belt and that will hopefully set him up for his next run, but on a far more galloping racecourse.

Secondly their facilities for owners have slipped..

Goffs..The foal market in Ireland has been strong... The future..

A bit of cricket news..Australia got their own back on India.. They thrashed them and their series is now 1/1

Wednesday morning and we have a bevy of jockeys in to ride out. Tom Bellamy, Ciaran Gethings and Johnny Burke were all in..

Oliver Sherwood was in touch this morning from New Zealand.. He had just been to see Henry Plumtre who we both knew before he moved to NZ. Henry used to run the Godolphin operation down under now runs the renowned Cambridge Stud

I know that Cornelius and I have a great deal in common when it comes to spelling .. But this one was not mine..

Gloucestershire is up in arms after repainted road markings near a school ended up spelling “Ceep klear”. What a kokc-up for the people of Kirenkester.

Top of the pile is 2008’s entry from Swansea, where a sign saying “No entry for heavy goods vehicles. Residential site only” was sent to a Welsh translator.

He replied immediately but, alas, the signmakers didn’t speak Welsh.

Their finished work meant: “I’m not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated.”
