Plus 7 and dry when driving in.

Uttoxeter yesterday was pretty tough ground wise.. very tacky and holding.

English Willow ran well to finish 3rd. Jumping the second last in front she looked like she might hold on.. It was still a good run considering it was only her second start..

Heros De Romay was a shade disappointing considering he showed promise last time. Yes we can blame the ground but we had hoped for better.

Ascot is a great racecourse even when you don’t have a runner.

Alice Plunkett compared the Howden Thoroughbred Aftercare Programme.. Such an excellent programme it is too.

Mid afternoon Francis Brooke presented me with a framed picture of my 1500th winner which happened to be with his horse Chianti Classico in November.. Mentioning the poor CC.. He is comfortable and still stable bound. When allowed he will travel to Ireland for his recouperation with Francis at his home in Limerick.

Mrs B has been having problems with the Royal Mail. A parcel has been sitting in their sorting office in Cheltenham and when she went to pick it up at 10 am yesterday morning the office was closed, even though it said on the door that opening hours were from 9am to 4pm.. The postal workers who were watching her said that she was not allowed in through the back door as out of bounds for the public and when she asked for help it was not given!

We too have had problems as most of our franked Christmas cards have not arrived at their destination.. apparently due to sorting office problems in Kent.! I not sure why my mail adressed to those living locally had to go there??.. Perhaps the new owner will sort the problem... ever hopeful, but you have to wonder why we use the post.. it is expense and now hugely unreliable.

Tom Bellamy and Ciaran Gethings were in to ride out..

We had Clare and Margaret Taylor and Andy, Jack and Ben Mills here for a morning on the gallops and breakfast booked through CD Tours. 

Callum and Vanessa Carter were also here to see their KBRS horse Isle of Gold. 

We have two runners today at Ascot. Trelawne and Two For Gold run in the same race. We also have Salt Rock at Hereford.. For our thoughts please click here
