RACING AHEAD

Another month and another winner, this time from the brilliant Minella Warrior who won well at Uttoxeter for owners David and Julie Martin. We have sent out quite a few runners this month which means the new season really is back in full swing with lots to look forward to.

We headed up to Perth with two horses, Younevercall finished second on day one having not seen a racecourse for 517 days, definitely more to come from him later in the season.

Cresswell Legend ran his heart out but found one of Gordon Elliott's horses too good on the day. He had to make the running as we knew he wanted further but he jumped well and it was three in a line over the last and frankly we looked booked for third place. One fell leaving two and we were passed, but no sooner than passed we switched sides and flew another 10 yards and CR would have had his head in front.. A gallant second going down by an ever diminishing head… There will be other days for him.. that was a good race.

Two horses to Perth and two seconds.. both horses (Younevercall and CL) ran with great credit and Leigh as always turned them out looking amazing.

Market Rasen is a good racecourse to race at as they do a good job of looking after owners and the clerk of the course does a good job on the ground, it's just a shame it is so far away. Our runners rather summed up our week......

Gallery Exhibition lost his rider at the first, poor Guy Disney landed safely and was just annoyed. GE galloped around the course another two circuits on his own, enjoying life and the freedom.

Fubar (great name) got caught by a horse going backwards and clipped heels and virtually fell going into the home bend, he lost a huge amount of momentum and ground so did well to get going again to finish 2nd. Yes another bloody second.. three last week.

NEW TEAM MEMBERS

We welcome a new Conditional Jockey to the yard Ben Love. Ben has come over from co Meath where he previously worked for Gavin Cromwell and Conor O'Dwyer. This is Ben's first job in England and we look forward to him riding some of our horses this season.

We also have a new Pupil Assistant in Harry Moss. Having previously worked for Dan Skelton and Gay Waterhouse in Australia, Harry will be working closly alongside Matt this season.

EXCLUSIVE ACCESS

We had our first of many Mornings on the Gallops with CD Tours this month and have hosted a total of 16 racing enthusiasts for breakfast.

A Morning on the Gallop is a great way to meet likeminded people who have an interest in racing, host business mornings for your clients or just come up and have a behind the scenes tour of Thorndale Farm whilst enjoying a cooked breakfast with the trainer himself.

COMPETITION TIME

Our 2018/2019 "5 To Follow" competition is now live but there is still time to get your entries in. This year we have joined up with The Frogmill Inn to create a really special prize. The competition runs from 6th October 2018 to 30th June 2019 and is free to enter!
